My mother bought me a kindle for Christmas, it was meant to encourage me to read more.

But instead I spent all day hacking a Noughts and Crosses game on to it.

The Kindle its self is just a LINUX based system, you can obtain root access through the browser, and the browser supports a JavaScript environment. So it is possible to write simple apps for the device, such as calendar, calculator, chess, card games, Unit converters etc.

But what I was most interested in developing was some kind of text translator...

There is so much potential in this device that I've decided to make a separate page on my website to host all the applications that I plan to make for this device, it also means that users of these applications won't have to obtain root access in order to use them.
