Blah, I hate Digital distribution!
Saturday 26th June 2010
I recently bought two new games for my games collection both of which require internet registration to play; anyway the second game I bought has a defective Product Key, at first I tried returning it to its original place of purchase but unfortunately since the seal has been broken they cannot give me a refund\replacement or store credit, instead they insisted I must contact the publisher.
So I have since written to the company and asked for a new one, this was about 2 weeks ago, and still no reply, meanwhile some assholes out there playing my game which I unfortunately paid for.
When I first purchased both games I clearly noticed the forced subscription notice on the back of each box, I also figured being a DVD all of the games content would be installed on the disc, compressed since DVDs can only hold 4.4 GB of data, and unfortunately this was not the case.
So after signing my soul away, I had to install this stupid product from the internet (which also defeats the purpose of having the disc) anyway, this stupid product also required an update from the internet; 60 MB is understandable but 900 MB shit man, that's most of my bandwidth.
So it did the stupid update, finally it came time to install the first game, at first I noticed the disc drive wasn't doing anything, and then I noticed the internet was running really slow, and then I got an email from my ISP explaining that I had gone over my bandwidth limit for the month, and that they were going to charge me extra for it, I thought "FUCK IT, this game better be worth it" it wasn't, after 2 and a half hours the game had finally installed itself, plus all of the additional fucking updates! Unfortunately I had installed the game on to an 80GB hard drive and by this stage it had ran out of space.
The game wasn't 4.5 GB as it was advertised on the box, it was 7.8 GB, and so I basically ended up having to uninstall everything and then reinstall it all on a much bigger hard drive.
Update 1: Unfortunately this was an internet based game that required the internet to play and I was out of bandwidth, so I had to wait a month before I got to play it.
Meanwhile I have this useless product that must always be running while you're playing the game that I paid for, taking up valuable process space, but what annoys the fuck out of me are these Fucking ads! Seriously, I turn the computer on and leave it for less than a minute and the next thing I know, this stupid useless product is offering me shit I don't want, shit I don't care about.
*I did find a way to disable it though.
Update 2: as for the second game,
After following all there steps on the support forum, they wanted me to prove that the game was authentic, so I had to scan my CD key and the receipt and send in pictures of the box, the company support then waited over 90 days to respond and tell me that they do not accept receipts over 90 days old.
Their after sales support is appalling.
I guess it's just a lesson you learn in life, if I had bought a pirated version of the second game, then maybe I would have been able to use it, not to a high quality, but use it none the less.
